Walgreens Boots Alliance Appoints Heather Hughes as Group Vice President of Beauty and Personal and Seasonal Care

THE WHAT? Walgreens Boots Alliance has appointed Heather Hughes as group vice president of beauty and personal and seasonal care, with Hughes succeeding Lauren Brindley.

THE DETAILS Brindley released a statement which read, “Today I am announcing my personal decision to leave Walgreens at the end of the month for an outside opportunity. I’m so proud of what the team has been able to accomplish together over the past six years… launching hundreds of new brands, elevating 3,000 beauty departments in Walgreens stores across the country, accelerating our digital business and growing our unique beauty consultant program. ”

Hughes began her career as a pharmacist at CVS, before joining Walgreens.

THE WHY ? Brindley is said to be stepping down to pursue an outside opportunity, with the exit being ‘amicable’.

Commenting on Hughes’ appointment, Luke Rauch, Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Walgreens, said, “With a pharmacist background and 20 years of experience transforming Walgreens, Heather’s passion for health and well-being makes her a natural person suitable for our beauty and personal care activities. Heather is a decisive leader who recently oversaw Walgreens’ strategy to develop and curate a better-for-you grocery assortment. »
